There are always too many distractions but I find that I can feel ‘powered up’ and spend time in the studio, but this fortnight the weather has been cool and grey so much time spent in the garden (neither too hot nor wet) and a little gallivanting to the Lake District, which is only 50 miles away but so different.

“Stories from the Cloth” is still humming in the back ground but I got diverted with some new inks that I bought at Printfest a couple of weeks ago. The method of applying is different and they are vegetable oil inks and the range of colours is lovely. I have now ordered some black ink, ( why didn’t I get black at the same time?) so more experimenting will be coming up.

Also on the theme of “Stories” i have been trying out some letter embossing – it’s necessary to get the sizing correct before I design a printing plate, a centimetre either way could blight a good design!

Next weekend is a Bank Holiday and I will be taking the short train journey to Saltaire, World Heritage Site as I have a stand at the Makers Fair in the Victoria Hall as part of the Saltaire Festival. It will be a lively three days!

It is a huge event which takes up most of the Village, further details can be found here.

And of course there have been walks in the bluebell woods.
