I have called this print ‘The Narrative of Design I’ and you will note that it is from one of the plates in my last post – they are destined for Printfest in Ulveston at the end of April. There are framed pieces and an edition of two books
Indeed all the work that I am currently making is for then, it all needs time to dry before the book making part begins.

The Baroque Lace plate from the post of February 13th has begun to be printed – these odd looking ‘house’ shapes will become a parts of concertina books, I have also printed strips, half circles and ones with an actual piece of Baroque lace. They will all make sense in the end! I have printed them all in shades of grey which does give subtle texture to them and its good to see the detail that has been highlighted in the close up photographs

I spent a lovely two days last weekend at PAGES the Leeds Contemporary Book Fair at the Tetley Building. Here I am with Elizabeth Shorrock having just set up on the Saturday morning. As always the conversations were interesting and I’m pleased to say that some of my favourite books were bought by like minded book and paper enthusiastic people.

I’m pleased to say that Spring has arrived and that the frogspawn came on March 1st, as per usual. We hear Curlews overhead and see them in the fields and today a bullfinch perched on a bush outside the studio. Its lovely to feel warmth on ones back and to hear the cheerful and optimistic calls of the birds.
